  7.   While we are still looking under the hood, there  is  one  item  which  we
  8. should eyeball.  There is a maze  of small rubber hoses under the hood which
  9. operate all sorts of engine controls.  One is as important as the other.

  12.   Usually, there is a 'map' of these lines pasted  on  the  inside  of  the
  13. hood.  Following this map, check each rubber hose from its origin to where-
  14. ever it is supposed to go.  Make sure it is attached properly, that none of
  15. the ends of the hose are split and that the hose is in good condition.     
  16.   If any end is split, most hoses will be long enough to trim the  end  and
  17. reattach the hose.  If not, you will have to buy a new piece of hose.  Make
  18. certain you take a piece of hose with you because there are many  sizes  in
  19. vacuum hoses.  The wrong size is NO good.  Measure the length also. . . too
  20. short is no good either!  When you have the proper one, replace the old one
  21. at the two same attaching places.  This is very important!
